ORLEN Nations Grand Prix 2025: Victory for the Italian Champion at the End of the Race! Great Ride by the Poles

This year’s edition of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix has gone down in history. The final stage was once again incredibly exciting, with Italian Edoardo Zamperini and Pole Patryk Goszczurny battling it out at the finish line near the Arłamów Hotel, crossing the line in that order. The white jersey for the overall classification winner went to Austrian Marco Schrettl.

We witnessed great excitement during the 7th edition of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix. The fourth and final stage promised to be a mountainous spectacle—and it did not disappoint. The riders competed on a route from Lesko (Lesko County) to the Arłamów Hotel, climbing once again through Kalwaria Pacławska, Gruszowa, and Fredropol, where a special bonus sprint was won by Italy’s Edoardo Zamperini.

The race once again featured dynamic attacks from the start, but any early breakaways by front-runners were quickly neutralized by the Austrian team defending the white leader’s jersey. Eventually, a group of nine riders managed to break away and, thanks to good cooperation, extended their lead over the peloton by more than a minute.

They battled it out for the win on the steep climbs of the Bieszczady Mountains, and the strongest in the end was Italian champion Edoardo Zamperini, who managed to outpace Patryk Goszczurny from the Polish national team. Danish rider Tore Troelsen completed the podium.

“Today I felt really great. After Thursday’s stage, I was extremely motivated because I was very disappointed not to finish in the break I was part of. Unfortunately, I got too cold and couldn’t do anything about it. Today, I wanted to show what I’m capable of, prove my worth, and I think I succeeded” said Patryk Goszczurny, who couldn’t hide his joy at the finish. The Italian champion was happy too.

“Today’s win means a lot. This victory shows that I’m on the right path and gives me motivation for the rest of the season. It’s the first time I’ve won in the Italian champion’s jersey—and probably the last time I’ll race in it – so I’m glad I made the most of my final chance to show it off on the top step of the podium” he admitted.

There were no major changes in the general classification. The ORLEN Nations Grand Prix 2025 was won by Austrian Marco Schrettl, ahead of the Italian duo Ludovico Maria Mellano and Filippo Turconi.

“I’m incredibly happy to have won the general classification, but even more pleased with how we rode as a team. It was phenomenal; the team gave everything. The stage was chaotic because everyone wanted to attack, but we made sure that no serious threats to the general classification got ahead” said Marco Schrettl.

Mateusz Gajdulewicz finished the race in a strong 6th place. That’s a major success for the 22-year-old, who had stood on the third step of the stage podium just the day before.

“My goal was to finish in the top 10 – and I made it. After the first half of the race, few believed in us, but the coach still did, so he can be proud of us. Especially since half of our squad are first-year U23s. I feel like an old guy in this team – I’m finishing my U23 category this year, so I hope this result will help me find a good team” said Mateusz Gajdulewicz.

The great performance by the Polish riders was a birthday present for Czesław Lang, who turned 70 today.

“This is a very nice birthday present. It’s the 7th edition of the race, and over these 7 years we’ve seen how our riders’ level has risen compared to the best cyclists from all over Europe. The Poles rode beautifully—third place yesterday, second and sixth in the general classification today. That’s never happened before. We have great guys and great talents who will definitely continue to develop” said the General Director of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix.
