4 days of cycling emotions in the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix in Podkarpacie

The seventh edition of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix is approaching fast and promises to be extremely exciting! Ahead of us are 4 demanding stages, leading through picturesque and mountainous routes of Podkarpacie. A key location for the race will be Hotel Arłamów, where the riders will finish for 3 times!

Just over a month remains until this year’s edition of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix, a regular part of the international calendar for U23 riders. The race is one of three included in the prestigious UCI Nations’ Cup series and every year gathers the biggest talents in this age category at the start line. Previous editions have shown that the event organized by Lang Team is an excellent springboard to World Tour teams, in which most of the stage winners and general classification leaders of ORLEN, the Title Sponsor of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix.

This year’s event also promises to be electrifying — not only because of the always strong field, composed of Polish and international talents, but also due to the difficult stages. The race will take place from May 14 to 17, and each of the 4 stages will run along the roads of Podkarpacie.

Everything will start in historic Łańcut, from where the riders will head toward Jasło. Last year, the winner there was the Dane Peter Oxenberg, who signed a contract with INEOS Grenadiers, the team of Polish cycling champion Michał Kwiatkowski. The stage route will test climbing skills right from the start, and the riders will tackle climbs such as Hyżne, Izdebki, and Błażowa, where a special intermediate sprint will be located. The entire stage will be 155 kilometers long.

The next day, the colorful caravan of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix will arrive in Jarosław and will ride through fairytale-like roads into the Bieszczady Mountains. In the final dozens of kilometers, the riders will face tough climbs, and the competition will be crowned with a mountain finish at Hotel Arłamów, which for the second time will feature on the route of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix.

Cycling celebration in Arłamów

For Polish cycling fans, this is a special place and has witnessed both Tour de Pologne stages and finish of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix or ORLEN Lang Team Race — the amateur event, which on May 17 will again take place in Arłamów. It will become the cycling capital of Poland for 3 days, because — apart from the mentioned finish of the second stage — it will also host the finish of the third and fourth stage, providing great emotions until the very end of the competition!

The steep walls of Podkarpacie, combined with the picturesque, green landscapes of one of the most beautiful Polish regions, are a guarantee of a beautiful cycling spectacle, with young talents in the main roles.

The third stage will start in the fairytale-located Ustrzyki Dolne and once again will not lack tough climbs, posing a major challenge for the peloton. After a very hard day on the bike, the most enduring riders will fight for victory at the finish at Hotel Arłamów. The young cyclists will also have a chance to show their strength at the special sprint in Lesko.

That’s also where the final stage of the 7th edition of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix will begin, during which we will get to know the winner of the general classification of ORLEN. Considering the open nature of the race, the fight for overall victory will most likely continue until the final kilometers, which — of course — will lead uphill! There will be plenty of opportunities to attack and show off skills to cycling fans around the world, as the stage will be filled with climbs. The route will include, among others, the well-known ascents to Gruszowa, Kalwaria Pacławska, and Fredropol, where a special sprint will be located.

The last day of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix will also be special for another reason. In the morning, around Hotel Arłamów, the first amateur ORLEN Lang Team Race of the year will take place, in which the jubilarian — Czesław Lang — will take part! The General Director of both races will be celebrating his 70th birthday that day — an event not to be missed!
